Dhanai resigns as Ajabpur councillor

Tuesday, 31 March 2015 | PNS | DEHRADUN

In protest against alleged apathy of officials of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun, the councillor of Ward number 36 Ajabpur, Manmohan Singh Dhanai submitted his resignation on Monday. In his resignation letter addressed to the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari, Dhanai states, “I had repeatedly sought information in public interest from the MCD but I was not provided the information sought. This shows that a public representative is accorded no importance in the corporation. I resign from the position of councillor to protest against not being provided the sought information.”Talking to The Pioneer, Dhanai said that he and the residents of his wards had raised various objections to the MCD’s house tax system but these had not been addressed.“I had been seeking information from the MNA and others in the MCD regarding house tax since December last year. Though I was given assurances, the information sought was not provided to me,” he said.
