DG issues stern warnings after inspection in Govt schools

Wednesday, 30 September 2015 | PNS | Dehradun

Taking serious view of the overall laxity of education department officers and employees of Haridwar district, the Director General (DG) of School education D Senthil Pandian has ordered adverse entries in the Confidential Report (CR) of Chief Education Officer (CEO), District Education Officer (DEO) secondary, DEO (Primary) and Block Education Officer (BEO) of the district.

The DG has given a time period of three months to the top education department officers of Haridwar to improve their working style and the decision to remove adverse entries would be taken only after improvement in performance is proved.

The department had conducted a surprise and extensive inspection of the Government schools, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) and residential schools on Monday. The inspecting teams reported serious discrepancies in the function of the department in the district. On Tuesday a detailed review was done by the director Primary, Secondary and SCERT in presence of District Magistrate and CDO of Haridwar.

The inspecting teams found that the Block and Cluster Resource Coordinators (BRC, CRC) concerned are not giving effective and desired educational support to the schools and it has been decided to recall these BRC and CRC for sending them to their respective schools.

Taking strong exception of CRC, Bahadarabad for keeping a proxy teacher the department has decided to lodge a case against him. On the complaint over DIET mentors not sending details of training needs for the teachers the DG issued stern warning to the Principal DIET. He was asked to coordinate with the CEO and CRC, BRC for identifying the training needs of the teachers. The DEO primary orders suspension of three teachers for late arrival on the day of inspection.

Due to low attendance of the students in almost all the schools of the district, the CEO Haridwar was directed to check the real strength of the schools. It is pertinent to mention here that in order to increase number of posts of teachers the incidences of fake enrollment of the students are not uncommon.  In the meeting it was decided that the BEOs would send their inspection reports via E-mail. The inspecting teams informed that due to lack of awareness for schemes like National Child health programe the benefit of such schemes is not percolating to the needy. It was found that the construction of building of Kasturba Gandhi Residential School at luxar is not per the required standard. The DEO was asked to appoint an independent inquiry on the issue.  The inspecting teams also reported good works done by some of the teachers and the officers concerned were asked to felicitate them.
