In an age of instant access to information it is surprising that the head office of the State health services here is yet to receive information from the districts as to how many newly appointed doctors have joined their duties. The department had given a deadline of April 25 to these doctors to join their duties. The medical health and family welfare department had given appointment letters to 282 medical officers on March 25. The department had given a period of one month to these doctors to join their duties. It was learnt that department has received joining information of about 35 doctors only. The department receives joining reports by registered letters which is time consuming process. The Joint Director Administration of state health services, Dr Kailash Joshi said that complete information about exact number of doctors joining their postings would be available only after all these letters are received by the department.
It is worth mentioning here that postings of most of these medical officers were done in the mountainous areas and department’s slackness on receiving this vital information is questionable since the state health Minister Surendra Singh Negi has time and again reiterated State Government’s commitment to provide health facilities in mountainous areas of the State.
