Dehradun DIG/SSP Pushpak Jyoti claimed that he has taken several measures to check crimes in the State capital, in particular, and in the district, in general. He cited the steps he had taken to keep crimes under leash and some of them are following — regular meetings with sub-ordinates, surprise inspections at police stations and police posts during the night hours and early morning hours, direction to the police officers to intensity patrolling in their jurisdictional areas effectively, strict instruction to police personnel to be alert on duty at their assigned posts, directing police to develop local sources, regular vehicle checking drives at important posts and assignment to investigating officers to crack registered cases.
He further said they are taking experienced persons dealing with such problems for years on board to check crimes in Dehradun. According to Jyoti, he had been appointed as SSP, Dehradun when the crime-graph had been on the spiral spawning public outrage in the State capital. He has taken steps to stop crimes in the outskirts of the district too. Several cases have been cracked, he claimed.
After assuming charge as SSP, he himself had been conducting surprise inspections during nights and early mornings at various police stations and police chowk to review security alertness by the police at their assigned posts, he said.
SSP Jyoti further said that he has directed the SP Traffic to draft plans for traffic regulation in advance in cases of processions to be staged by political parties or any organisation and deploy police force adequately to avoid untoward incidents as well as to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city. The police officers have been directed to ensure that police personnel are adequately deployed at crossings during office hours and after school hours to keep traffic smooth in the city.
