A 21-year-girl student committed suicide by jumping into the well after having fight with her boyfriend at Berkhedi Pathani. As soon as she jumped into the well, to rescue her, the youth also dived in the well, but he also drowned.
According to the police, sensation prevailed in the area after a couple jumped into the well and after the locals spotted the two jumping in the well they rushed to rescue them and with the help of police and locals there were rescued. They were rushed to hospital where they were died later. When the two were rescued they were rushed to Kasturba hospital and later referred to JP hospital.
The boy was identified as Deepak Mehra (24) who was pursuing his engineering from RKDF College while the girl was identified as Shilpi alias Shakshi (21) who was pursuing BCom.
Police said that the two were acquainted and it is possible that the two were in relationship but at the moment it is not possible to ascertain. Mehra used to live at Narendra Nagar and Shakshi used to live in the same vicinity.
The incident took place in the evening Shakshi left the house at around 5 pm for coaching class and met Deepak and later after a fight with him she jumped into the well and in a bid to rescue Deepak jumped into the well but he failed and drowned.
The bodies were sent for the post mortem after the preliminary investigation. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation.
