Cops held for extortion

Two armed police Constables were arrested for extorting coal truck drivers at Tini Konia square near Brajrajnagar police station on Thursday.

Brajrajnagar police station IIC Akash Sahu told that while he was passing over the Tini Konia square, he spotted the two constables extorting money from truckers. Taking prima facie evidences, the two constables were arrested under Sections 385 and 34 of IPC.

They were identified as Prasant Kumar Behera and Harish Prasad who are from the Jharsuguda Armed Reserved Police. The constables had been to Belpahar to deliver a departmental courier.

On their way to Jharsuguda, they were involved in the crime.   Notably, these days the coal belt area of Brajrajnagar has been become a hub for the extortionists as on Wednesday a Bajrangdal member was arrested under same charge.
