CMPFO unveils e-services for coal firm employees

Wednesday, 30 September 2015 | PNS | Ranchi

Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation (CMPFO) brought transparency in its operations with the launch of e-services portal on Tuesday at Ranchi for the thousands of employees working for various subsidiaries of Coal India limited. The portal was launched by Union Coal Secretary Anil Swarup on the premises of Central Mining, Planning and Design Institute.

The portal facilitates two-way flow of information fed into the automated system by an employee and employer which is made available for scrutiny by all. The launch was applauded by the employees of coal companies and Board of Trust of CMPF as it is touted to iron out all the glitches prevalent in the manual system of keeping record of every penny contributed towards the provident fund of employees.

The e-services launched by the CMPFO have been modelled on the Employees Provident Fund Organisation with minor customisation to suit the requirements of coal companies. The e-service would also facilitate transfer of funds directly into a beneficiary’s bank account through Real Time Gross Settlement.

“Right now we are copying the EPFO however I believe that since this organisation is small we can do better by refining the system a little bit. I believe that employee should not run from pillar to post and get whatever he is entitled for at his doorstep,” said Swarup.

Swarup emphasised that the provident fund organisation are like trustee for every penny that is collected from employees and also on ensuring that all services are being provided to employees by the trustee.  The e-services facilitates seven-stage registration process for the employees and employer alike.

The newly launched system is also likely to be integrated with future operational changes in the Coal India limited as the Chairman, Coal India limited; Sutirtha Bhattacharya requested subsidiaries to operationalise the e-services.

“I would request all the subsidiaries to operationalise the portal based services and e-payment as fast as possible so that when our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is launched these are synergized with the system that CMPF is putting,” said Bhattacharya.

The CMPF Commissioner, Animesh Bharti, said that the system will help in improving the functioning of coal companies on the provident fund front.

The system was launched in the presence of CMD, CMPDI, AK Debnath; CMD, CCl, Gopal Singh and other dignitaries of Ministry and Coal Companies.
