In his attempt to rid Uttar Pradesh of power crisis Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will inaugurate a 500 MW unit of Anapara D thermal power project on Tuesday, government spokesman said here. The spokesman said in a statement issued here on Monday that of the two 500 MW thermal power project one will become operational on march 31 while the second unit will start generating power by June 30 this year.
The construction of 2x500 MW thermal power project of Anpara D is carried out by Uttar Pradesh State Power Generation Corporation. Both the units are set up on the ash pond of Anpara A and B thermal units. “Thus, no additional land was required for construction of Anpara D thermal power units. Waste land was used for this project in which special technique was used to construct this unit on ash pond,” the spokesman said.
He said it is the first step towards Government’s commitment to provide 16 hour electricity in rural areas and 22-24 hour electricity in urban areas. In June 120 MW of Harduaganj thermal power project will also become operational. It was stopped for renovation in 2010.
