CM directs party workrs to brace up for 2017 Electns

Tuesday, 30 June 2015 | PNS | Lucknow

In a terse warning to the ruling party workers, Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party state president Akhilesh Yadav asked them to shun tehsil and thana politics and concentrate on 2017 as “their public behaviour would be the deciding factor in the next assembly election”.

“Reports are pouring in about SP local leaders doing police station and tehsil politics. They seems to be more concerned about their petty interests which is creating law and order problems at the district level. This is not acceptable and they should stop this,” Yadav said while addressing party workers during birthday celebration of party’s national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav here on Monday.

Without naming anyone he even said that some people have told him about the incidents of land grabbing in which SP leaders played a crucial role. Instead of helping government these leaders are destroying the image of the government, he said.

“Party would benefit if these leaders leave their narrow political interest and serve the people instead,” he said.

Yadav said that the party workers should realize that people have high expectations from them. They are the real representatives of the party at the ground level. “I am regularly meeting people and am touch with others through mobile or computer. I am getting complaints about land grabbing. What hurts me is when I come to know that party workers are involved in those cases, he said.

“In some cases party leaders go to the police stations and unduly pressurize the police to do unethical things. The party leaders should get over thana and tehsil politics. They should support what is correct and help the needy people,” he said.

In last few months Yadav, who is also state president of the party, has issued directives not to mis-use party flags or logo. Even party’s national president Mulayam Singh Yadav had asked them not to cross the `lakshman rekha’.

later in a pep talk CM said that party workers had played a crucial during last assembly elections. This time too party’s fortune is in the hands of the youth. If they can carry forward the message of good work done by the government no body could stop Samajwadi Party from coming to power again.

Yadav later criticised the BJP government at the Centre for ignoring the demand of the state and alleged that the Centre was bringing only those schemes which will benefit the people after their death.

“Our schemes will help the people in lifetime while Centre’s scheme will benefit people after their death,” he said hinting at the insurance schemes launched by the union government.
