Coming out of its slumber on unplanned construction in the city, Chandigarh Administration has launched a toll free number 1077 for taking care of issues related with civil construction.
The residents of the city can inform the Administration officials about any construction issues on the toll free number. The Administration is also set to launch a Facebook account along with a Whatsapp number.
Six labourers had lost their lives due to unplanned and unauthorised construction in Sector 26 when the roof of a building collapsed as the adjoining plot was being dug for the construction of basement.
Ajit Balaji Joshi, Deputy Commissioner cum Estate Officer has ordered the Municipal Corporation to take stern action against the owner of Site No 88 who had started the excavation of basement without submission of building plan and the norms of Architectural Control Sheet and against the rule 5 of the Punjab Capital Act 1952.
Action will be sought against the owner of Site No. 87 who had constructed the building along with basement without proper sanctioning of the building plans. The owner of the building had constructed the brick wall of the basement instead of 9-inch thick RCC wall as per submitted plan
The Estate Office would take action against the private architect R.M Kalra and Associate for not supervising the work as per submitted plan.
