Chlorine leak: Gaur inspects Narmada water filtration plant

Minister for Home and Jail, Babulal Gaur on Sunday inspected the Narmada water filtration plant at Ahmedpur, where the chlorine gas was leaked on Saturday.
He lauded the efforts of the employees who exhibited presence of mind by throwing the cylinder in the water, which helped in reducing the effects of the gas in the region. Plant engineer BK Gupta, Additional Commissioner of the BMC Sanjay Kumar, Mayor-in-Council member Kewal Mishra, Corporator Rambabu Patidar, senior officials and others were present on the occasion.
 
Notably, six people had become sick after the chlorine gas was leaked from the water filtration plant BMC in Bagh Sewania area in Bhopal.At the BMC’s filtration plant, a cylinder weighing around 900 kg had arrived at the plant at around 2 pm. The gas is used at the plant for filtering the Narmada water.
 
The BMC has outsourced the work to Cheema Tech Company. As soon as the company employee lifted the cylinder with the help of a crane, its valve got open and the gas leakage started. Within seconds, the employees faced problems in breathing and they left the place. Within few minutes, the houses in nearby areas got vacated.The officials informed Gaur that the employees working at the plant remain equipped with all safety measures.
