The dance-drama narrating the tales of Raja Chakradhar Singh of Raigarh mesmerised the theatre-goers of the city on the second day of Nritya Aangan. The dance-drama Chakrapia was presented in a ballet form by the artistes of Kalandhika Nritya Natya Sanstha Samiti here on Friday at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium. Showcasing the love of human for nature and its creations the ballet was performed splendidly at the hall leaving the audiences enjoy the show to the fullest.
The ballet based on the stories of Raja Chakradhar Singh was performed in classical form in Teen Taal Nibandh Bandish. The curtains were raised with the court scene where Raja Chakradhar is seen on throne and the villagers are performing Ganesh Vandana. The artists during the opening scene performed Kathak dance. The speedy footwork and the captivating expressions added much charm in the performance.
As the audiences were enjoying a series of classical ballet dance art form, the artists of Kalandhika Nritya Natya Sanstha Samiti showcased the life span of Raja Chakradhar and his love for nature. The narrator gives a short story about the king and his greatness. During this section, the court of the king was set up as the backdrop and the courtiers standing behind.
The artists then performed a beautiful classical dance that was devoted to the king. Further the court of Raigarh at the backdrop and its classical dances. Moreover, the sensible light design added much zest in the play. The series of ballet performances were wrapped with Bhav Geet spell binding the audiences. The three day theatre fest would conclude on Saturday.
