Miscreants on Wednesday night looted Rs 10,000 and jewellery from the house of Gobardhan Rout, a lawyer, at Garapur Master Colony under the Sadar police limits in Kendrapada district.
They also stole a gold chain, eight invertors, electric materials, cable and some mobile phones from the house of businessman Aswini Patra of Garapur area. The criminals too attempted to rob the house of the Additional District Judge (ADJ) by break-opening the side window of the house. But they failed to commit the crime for some unknown reasons.
The police started inquiry into the incidents and a sniffer dog squad has also been pressed into service. Meanwhile, a couple of persons have been detained suspecting their alleged involvement in these thefts, said Kendrapara Sadar police station IIC Biranchi Bag.
