A man was arrested by the Simulia police of Baleswar on Monday on the charge of exploiting a girl sexually on the false promise of marrying here.Accused Bhagirathi Barik (30) of village Saradanga under the Simulia police station was keeping physical relationship with the victim (23), who is also a distant relative of his, for about three years.He was forwarded to court after being booked under Section 376 of IPC and further sent jail after rejection of his bail petition.
The victim lodged a complaint with police after Barik and his family rejected the offer of marriage made by the victim’s family and, on the other hand, Barik’s family threatened the latter with dire consequences.“The accused had been exploiting the victim for about three years on a false assurance of marriage,” Simulia police station IIC Ramesh Chandra Singh said.
