Over 150 employees of the Barapada School of Engineering and Technology (BSET) here on Wednesday staged a demonstration before the Bhadrak district Collectorate demanding regular payment of salary and takeover of the institution by the Government.
The employees led by senior advocate Nirakar Jena and labour union leader Dibyasingh Nayak moved in a rally holding placards across the town before staging the protest meeting.
They alleged that they have not been paid salaries for the last four months though the institution, of which Bhandaripokhari MlA Prafulla Samal is the management head, earns good amount of money. They demanded that the Government take over the institution soon for smooth running.
“The BSET, established in 1957, offers courses like Degree Engineering, MCA, MBA and ITI trades now. Though it has been the best institution in terms quality education, it has been victimized of dirty politics and yet to be taken over by the Government,” said Harendra Kumar Das, Administrative Officer of the BSET.
Now, MlA Samal’s son Prayaskanti Samal is president and his daughter-in-law is director of the institution, according to sources.
Alleging that the funds of the institution are being misappropriated by management people, the employees too demanded that the Government should order for a CBI or AG probe into the matter.
