The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has threatened to launch a countrywide agitation if the State Government does not apologise for its interference that led to the delay in Ghata Parivartan (soul transfer), the key ritual of the Nabakalebar festival.VHP international secretary general Champat Rai alleged that due to political intervention of the Government, the age-old ritual of Ghata Parivartan, which should be conducted during night, was carried out on the following day afternoon.
“Besides, while it is mandated that only four Badagrahis should conduct Ghata transfer, more than 50 people, including Daitapatis, entered during the Ghata Parivartan ritual,” said Rai.The State Government should apologise for this misdeed and assure that it does not make any political interference in religious matters in future, he demanded.
