Due to enhancement in technology some provisions of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act of 1994 have been amended to allow ultrasound for diagnosis of some diseases but the sex determination of the fetous is strictly prohibited. The district Programme officer Dr Madan Bonal said this while speaking at the meeting of district advisory committee and district Inspection and evaluation committee for discussing amendments in the PCPNDT act at Doon Hospital here on Monday.
Dr Bonal said that if any ultrasound centre is found conducting the sex determination tests then the license of the centre would be canceled and stern legal action would be initiated against the ultra sound clinic owner. The meeting was attended by Dr NS Kharti, district coordinator Mamta Bahuguna and other officers were present on the occasion.
