The Bhopalites were enthralled with the Bharatnatyam performance here on Thursday.
Notably, the students of ‘Kalapadam’ Bharatnatyam Nritya Akademi paid tribute to their guru with staging a mesmerising performance on the eve of Guru Purnima here on Thursday at Gandhi Bhavan Auditorium.
It was part of concert ‘Guru Purnima Utsav’ , dedicated to eminent Bharatnatyam dancer Hombal.
The programme started off with Guru Archna song ‘Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu…’. It was followed with ‘Dashavataram’, ‘RituSangam’ and ‘Ramcharitam’ which delighted the music lovers a lot. An item ‘Dashavataram’, describes the 10 incarnation of lord Vishanu.
Another experimental item ‘RituSangam’ which depicts six seasons was based on the ‘Ritu Samvad’ of Kalidas. It is noteworthy here that this experimental item is composed by Bharati Hombal, a city-based noted Bharatnatyam danseuse in which she used Sanskrit as well as folk language. Different forms of lord Ram was described by an item ‘’Ramcharitam’. The programme concluded with ‘Manglam’ which talks about the welfare of all.
All the items were choreographed by well-known Bharatnatyam danseuse and founder of ‘Kalapadam’ Bharatnatyam Nritya Akademi Bharati Hombal. And it was wonderfully presented students of the Akademi including Alpa Prabhu, Nirja Saxena, Rupal Geete, Surbhi Bharati, Arunima and Himika.
Bharati Hombal accompanied them on Natwangam, Appal Swami on Mridangam, Rajendra Vyas on violin, Virendra Kore on flute, Bharati Hombal and Prachi Vyas on vocal. The programme was conducted by Shushma Mishra. Music maestro Swami Sidhram Korbar was present as chief guest on the occasion.
