A three-member team headed by Development commissioner Upendra Nath Behera, which is on a three-day visit to Malkangiri district, on Tuesday reviewed the progress of construction work of the Gurupriya bridge here.
Behera, accompanied by Water Resources and Works Departments’ Secretaries, discussed with BSF personnel about the security for bridge construction and directed the contract organisation to expedite the work.
Notably, this is the first trip by Behera to the backward district after taking special charge of Malkangiri.
The Government recently appointed four senior IAS officers including Behera with special responsibilities of Maoist-affected backward districts of Nuapada, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Kandhamal to accelerate development work.
