Rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy has urged the Bhadrak Collector to act over denial of basic amenities to the Nua Adivasi Colony ST community residents in Geluta in the district. In a petition to the Collector Tripathy maintained that due to consistent administrative apathy the residents of Nua Adivasi Colony belong to ST community are suffering immensely.
“They have been settled there due to the construction of the residence of top district officials, including the SP and Collector. When these poor tribals were residing at Gaba Sahi they had BPl cards. However, after their shifting to Nua Adivasi Colony they are denied of BPl cards,” Tripathy stated in his petition.
Tripathy pointed out that the irregularities of the Mini Anganwadi center (like non-payment of dues of the worker and for the food), MDM problem of the UP School and the road connectivity problem have been solved pursuant to the direction of the NHRC and other judicial forums.Tripathy requested the Collector issue BPl cards to them and ensure consequential benefits including supply of food and other items under public distribution system.
