The decision on the bail plea of jailed IMC Mayor-in-council member and incharge of the revenue department of the Indore Municipal Corporation Suraj Kairo was again deferred by the High Court Indore bench here on Monday. Now the issue will be heard on July 3 . It was the second time in a week that the High Court deferred its decision on the bail plea of Kairo and others.
Kairo along with eight other former IMC officials and former corporators including Kailash Yadav and Rajendra Soni had been sent to jail on Monday last week after their bail plea had been rejected by a local court in connection with Meghdoot Garden scam which had rocked Indore municipal corporation 12 years back.
The HC in its previous hearing on June 25 also, had taken up the bail plea application of Kairo. However, for some unexplained reason it did not take up the bail plea application of Kairo and deferred it till July 3 next month. On Monday also, the HC took up the bail plea application of Kairo. After listening to pleas and counter pleas both in favour and against the bail plea, the court once again reserved its decision on giving bail to Kairo and others.
The next hearing in the case will take place on July 3 next month. After almost 12 years of probe into the Meghdoot garden scam involving `34 crore, the lokayukta police had submitted 4,500 pages chalans against Kairo and eight others including two former corporators last Monday. later all the accused were sent to jail after their bail pleas were rejected by the lower court.
