Australia is keen to invest in Haryana. A three-member delegation led by High Commissioner of Australia to India, Patrick Suckling on Tuesday expressed keen interest in investing in the areas of agriculture, animal husbandry and dairying, sports, skill development, tourism and hospitality, health and education in the State.
Patrick Suckling called on Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Tuesday and apprised the Chief Minister that the Universities of Australia and India could co-operate with each other by exchanging technologies for quantity measurement of Carotene in cow milk and improving genetic breeding.
Manohar lal while apprising Patrick about the recently announced Enterprises Promotion Policy-2015 of Haryana said that a provision had been made to give special concession for mega investment projects with its key features of further easing the ease-of-doing business, single-window clearance, and many more.
He said that Haryana enjoys location-based advantage, as the State surrounds the National Capital Delhi on three sides. The Chief Minister also invited Patrick for Investment Summit to be organised in Gurgaon and presented a copy of the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita to the members of delegation.
During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Technical Education, Dheera Khandelwal informed that Haryana Skill Development Mission has been set up to supplement the Skill Development and Make-in-India programmes of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Special emphasis is being given to make available trained workforce as per the current need of industries. It is proposed to develop Centre-of-Excellence in manufacturing, retail and textiles sectors in the National Capital Region. Australia can prepare faculty members as trainers. About 400 centres that are working in these areas to prepare trainers as per courses are operational in Australia, she said.
Patrick informed that five sports Universities are operational in Australia. India and Australia have a lot of similarities in many sports, including cricket. There are ample possibilities to increase cooperation with Haryana in the areas of sports infrastructure, sports medicine and sports psychology.
