The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday asked senior Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh to take charge as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president at Chabba and invited Khalistani militant Jagtar Singh Hawara and SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjeet Singh Mann.
Hawara is convicted in the assassination case of former Chief Minister Beant Singh and Mann was one of the chief organiser of the so-called 'Sarbat Khalsa' held at Chabba on November 10. “Your conspiracy to plan a Sarbat Khalsa with the support of radicals at Chabba and with active connivance of your trusted Congress leaders has helped you get the post of PPCC president. You have been awarded by AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi for disturbing peace and harmony in the state. So, ideally you should be holding your first rally at Chabba,” said BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh.
Chugh said that as the cat is now out of the bag, “Capt Amarinder should now openly invite Jagtar Singh Hawara, Simranjit Singh Mann, Dhian Singh Mand, Baljit Singh Daduwal and others as he takes charge as PPCC president”.
Questioning the sudden change in the attitude of Rahul Gandhi and Capt Amarinder, Chugh said that hardly a month ago, while Amarinder termed Rahul as immature and non-serious about Punjab, Rahul ignored him indicating that he was ‘outdated’ leader.
