Saturday, 31 January 2015 | PNS | Chandigarh

In a major reprieve to the allottees who have failed to deposit installments towards the cost of their properties in the ambit of improvement trusts, Punjab Government on Friday given two months’ time to deposit remaining amount, along with the interest restoration charges, till March 31. State local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi said that it would be a major reprieve for those allottees, whose properties have been attached by the department since they could get their properties restored by paying the rest amounts with the due interest restoration charges in lump-sum manner.

“Now those allottees, who could not have deposited the due amounts despite receiving notice from department, could apply for restoration of their properties. Instructions have been issued in this regard to all offices of Improvement Trusts,” he said. The minister informed that this decision has been taken on the basis of large number of appeals for restoration of properties. Government has decided to provide a chance to the allottees, who had failed to continue their installments, he added.

Joshi also informed that department has also launched an awareness drive in this regard so that maximum allottees could take full advantage to this initiative of Government well in time. “Those allottees, who will not deposit their installments, concerned improvement trusts would be able to take action as per law,” he said.
