On Sunday morning, Hazaribagh suddenly came into the grips of communal tension. Alert district and police administration reacted quickly and controlled the situation, which was heading towards communal clash. Within four to five hours, everything became normal and once again, the town started functioning as usual.
In the morning at about 6 am, some unknown volunteers of Bajrang Dal got information that in an auto some men are carrying prohibited beef. They caught the auto in front of Sadar Hospital and captured three men carrying beef. Meanwhile, crowd gathered near the spot and someone torched the auto.
As the news spread of torching of auto, recovery of beef and three men caught red-handedly, crowd started swelling up. Rumors added sting in the wound and suddenly it turned as if Hazaribagh is heading towards communal tension and clash.
DC Mukesh Kumar, SDO Anuj Kumar, SP Akhilesh Jha, DSP Satish Chandra Jha and other officials rushed to the spot and with the help of conscious denizens of the town started cooling down the situation. After two to three-hour-long marathon attempts and talks, they finally succeeded in sending back the angry youths of both sides to their homes.
later, an FIR was lodged in Hazaribagh Sadar PS in which the three men caught by the youths with beef were listed as accused and were sent to jail in the evening.
