The Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) has decided to make available banking services at doorsteps in the far-flung areas of the State where brick and mortar branches are still out of reach of the customers.As many as 20 Banks on Wheels have been acquired by the OSCB to be rolled out in unbanked areas of 10 tribal districts of the State.
This move aims at providing access to the loans sanctioned to the farmer members of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies through ATMs embedded to the vehicles meant for the mobile branches of the Central Cooperative Banks (CCBs) operating in the areas.Presently, the Kisan Credit Card holders avail credit from the nodal branches of the CCBs at the time of disbursement of crop loans by travelling a long distance ranging from 5 to 30 km. In a first in the entire country, the OSCB has ventured into such an innovative process of delivering credit.
