Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project “Swachchh Bharat” has seemingly swept the Haryana Police Department which has disposed as many as 77,311 old files and six truck-loads of junk from its headquartres in Panchkula.
In a cleanliness drive launched in the Haryana Police headquarters in Panchkula, the Department has disposed of a total of 77,311 old files.
The piles of old files weighing 23,692 kg were loaded in six trucks to dispose of at a company in Dera Bassi in Punjab. Not only did the Police Department discard the junk but also managed to earn Rs2,36,950 by selling the old useless records.
Following this, the Police Department has now directed all district Police headquarters to launch a cleanliness drive under “Swachchh Haryana, Swachh Bharat” campaign to weed out old records.
The Central Police Office (CPO), Criminal Investigation Department Offices are
located in State Police Headquartres in Panchkula’s Sector 6 , alongwith the State Police Control Room.
According to a spokesperson of the Haryana Police Headquarters, Panchkula, 77,311 old files were weeded out after scrutiny by the Police Department. All these old records have been destroyed under the supervision of the Police Department.
He said that the cleanliness drive was specially organised in view of upcoming festival of Diwali. After this drive in the State Police Headquarters, district police headquarters have been asked to conduct the cleanliness drive.
In line with Centre’s project “Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan”, the Haryana Government had launched “Swachh Haryana, Swachh Bharat” campaign and also issued orders to carry out cleanliness drive in all the government offices and State Public Undertakings.
All the Administrative Secretaries, Head of Departments, Divisional Commissioners, Registrars of Universities and Deputy Commissioners were asked to ensure an improved work culture and work environment including hygiene and cleanliness of the work place.
The Departments were also asked to weed out old files or records after adopting the due procedure besides, keeping the office premises clean.
Recently, the State Government had also announced a sum of Rs1 lakh to be awarded to those villages and wards where every house has a toilet under ‘Swachh Haryana-Swachchh Bharat’ programme. Similarly,
municipalities, municipal councils and municipal corporations would be rewarded Rs5 lakh, Rs10 lakh and Rs20 lakh, respectively.
A 10 per cent rebate in property tax is also announced in Haryana to be given to every resident of those wards and colonies where income is generated by collecting garbage from each house under Solid Waste Management.
