Three girls of Odisha were among eleven child labourers rescued by Anti-Child labour Project officials from a spinning mill at Namakkal in Tamil Nadu. The eleven children rescued included six girls, all under 14 years. They were found working in the spinning mill during a surprise check carried out on Thursday by officials led by Inspector of Factories of Tamil Nadu Anita Rosalin Mary, officials said.
While three of the girls hail from Odisha, the other children were from Bihar. Namakkal district Collector V Dakshinamurthy said arrangements were being made to send the children back to their home, according to reports. Engagement of child labour being a crime, stern action would be taken against the owner of the mill, officials said.
