A 22-year old engineering student committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at her Kotra Sultanabad residence under Kamla Nagar police station area on Saturday. Nikita Parihar was spotted hanging by her cousin Sonam in the afternoon on Saturday. Nikita’s father had asked Sonam to check well being of Nikita. Sonam immediately rushed Nikita to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.
In the initial investigation police found that the examinations of the deceased were going on and she was under pressure to perform. Sonam told the police that Nikita could not perform well in the last paper and thus she was depressed but the things took different shape after she received a call from Nikita’s father asking her to check Nikita’s well being and when she reached home Nikita was found hanging.
Sonam is Nikita’s cousin who used to live with her and is pursuing her studies from the city. Deceased was a B.E second year student and was pursuing her studies from Radharaman College. The victim hailed from Chhindwara and her father works as tailor there. The body was sent for the post mortem. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC.
