Dehradun district Cabinet Minister in-charge and chairman of district planning committee Yashpal Arya chaired the DPC meeting in which the proposed Rs84.56 crore under district plan for 2016-17 was approved by the committee. The second approved installment of Rs6.70 crore to the Public Works Department in 2015-16 was approved on the condition that the approved money be used only for payments for works undertaken in the past. Citing the new Government orders, Rs16.04 crore to PWD for 2016-17 under the district plan was approved with the commitment on utilisation of the money only after approval of proposals by the sub committee headed by Arya with all MlAs of Dehradun district as members of the committee.
Arya said that proposals provided for the remaining balance of 2015-16 have been included in the district planning committee. For this the process is underway for release of Rs3685 lakh.
Arya further informed that required funds had been released for important and necessary proposals by all public representatives under the district plan.
The minister pointed out that with a planned increase of about 21 per cent, a sum of about Rs84.56 crore has been proposed under district plan for the year 2016-17. Speaking at the meeting, the Dehradun district magistrate Ravinath Raman informed that the balance released for 2015-16 includes Rs670 lakh for roads and bridges, Rs429 lakh for the water corporation, Rs326 lakh for Jal Sansthan, Rs93 lakh for the forest department, Rs94 lakh for renewable energy, in medical health- Rs165 lakh for allopathic, Rs19 lakh for Ayurvedic and Rs28 lakh for homoeopathic.
Varied amounts were released for community development and development block grants, education, social welfare, agriculture, soldier welfare, animal husbandry and horticulture among others. The Forest minister Dinesh Aggarwal, district Panchayat chairman Chaman Singh, MlAs Umesh Sharma, Rajkumar, Hira Singh Bisht, Nav Prabhat, Ganesh Joshi along with other public representatives and officials were also among those who attended the DPC meeting.
