Kalinga Hospital celebrates World Heart Day
Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Hospital limited (KHl) on Tuesday observed the World Heart Day with a theme on ‘Healthy Heart Choice for Everyone, Everywhere’. A walkathon was held on the occasion with DCP Satyabrata Bhoi inaugurating it. All staffs of the KHl participated in the event. The DCP said, “This is indeed a good initiative by the hospital to spread healthy heart message among the denizens”. KHl Managing Director DK Roy, Medical Superintendent Srikant Mahapatra and other officials participated in the programme.
Google girl meets SNSMT chief
Bhubaneswar: lalita Prasida Sripada Srisai (13), who won the Community Impact Award at the Google Science Fair held in California on September 21, met Smt Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) Chairman Suparno Satpathy at the SNSMT headquarters here on Tuesday. lalita's parents, sister and mentor Pallavi Mohapatra were also present during the meet. Praising lalita's global achievement, Satpathy said, “the girl is an inspiration and we may have many more young achievers like her”. Notably, lalita's project of Corn Cob Water Purifier helped her fetch the international award.
Nalco Director takes over as Rotary Club Prez
Bhubaneswar: Nalco Director (HR) SC Padhy took over as the new President of the Rotary Club of Temple City for the year 2015-16 at the club’s 25th installation ceremony held at Nalco Nagar here on Monday. Nalco CMD TK Chand joined the event as the chief guest and lauded the noble services rendered by the Rotary Clubs all over the World. On the occasion, a souvenir titled Dhauli was also released by the Nalco CMD. Among others, Rotarians SK Tamotia, Satyajit Dalai and Simanchal Maharana were present.
ISKCON Bhagabat Prabachan concludes
Bhubaneswar: The Bhagabat Prabachan programme concluded on Tuesday at the ISKCON’s Gundicha Temple near Unit-8 DAV School here. The programme had begun on September 23 with the sermon of ISKCON sanyasi Bhagabat preacher Srimad Radha Govinda Das Goswami Maharaj of Vrindavan Dham. Topic of the prabachan was ‘Baman Avatar’. More than 2,000 devotees had registered their names to take part in this prabachan from the sanyasi. Devotees from Odisha, Vrindavan, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Karnataka, Mathura, Rishikesh and from abroad had attended the programme.
DAV Pokhariput observes Heart Day
Bhubaneswar: The DAV Public School, Pokhariput here with the support of the Health and Wellness Club on Tuesday observed the World Heart Day by holding an interaction session between doctors and students. Dr Venket Rao (MD, Community Medicine) made the students and teachers aware about the today’s lifestyle leading to heart ailments. As many as 23 doctors and trainers of Sum Hospital also examined basic ideas of students on health issues by asking questions. School Principal Madam Sujata advised students to follow a healthy lifestyle.

Bhubaneswar: City-based organisation Aina will observe the Daan Utshav (Joy of Giving) by giving an apple to a child. The campaign will start from October 3 to 8 at the Udayan Fresh and Reliance Fresh here.
Scouts and Guides Pre-AlT training camp ends
Bhubaneswar: A five-day Pre-AlT training course conducted by the Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides for the eastern Indian States concluded here recently. Participants from West Bengal, East Coast railway, Sikkim, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh and Odisha imparted training during the camp. On the valedictory function, Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides chief and national president Kaliprasad Mishra called upon the participants to ensure developing best leaders.
