Capt speaks to HP CM about missing pilgrims

Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday spoke to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh about the injured and missing pilgrims from Punjab whose bus met with an accident and was washed away in a flooded river as they were on their way to Manikaran Sahab. The pilgrims were mainly from the districts of Mansa and Barnala in Punjab. He sought HP CM’s personal intervention in locating the missing people as their kith and kin were concerned and worried about their fate. Capt Amarinder said, Virbhadra Singh has assured him that all measures were being taken to ensure that the missing pilgrims were traced and those injured were provided proper medical treatment.

kabaddi world cup: Punjab forms panel

Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has constituted organising committee of 6th Kabaddi World Cup-2015 for smooth conduct of mega sports event. Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister has been made the Chief Patron, while Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister would be the Chairman of the Organizing Committee. Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Member of Parliament andSikander Singh Maluka, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister would be the Senior Vice Chairmen and. Bikram Singh Majithia, Revenue, Rehabilitation, Information & Public Relations Minister; Pawan Kumar Tinnu, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sports& Youth Services and MlA Pargat Singh have been made Vice Chairmen.

Buildings of banks to be constructed in Mandis

Chandigarh: To facilitate farmers, traders and ‘Arhtias’, buildings of banks would be constructed within all Mandis in Haryana. A spokesman said that it would be the choice of the banks whether to get plots or constructed building in the Mandis. He said that new Mandis are being constructed at the cost of Rs 100 crore in 20 districts of the state. Also,link roads would be constructed at a cost of Rs 13,000 crore  by Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board. A sum of Rs 87 crore has been released for the repair and renovation of   roads.

Govt to release pending payments of sugarcane mills

Chandigarh: Sonepat Deputy Commissioner, Rajiv Ratan said that, as per the orders of the Haryana Government, pending payments of sugarcane supplied by sugarcane growers to the Cooperative Sugar Mill Sonepat would be transferred to their bank accounts linked with Aadhaar number. All sugarcane growers have been urged to contact their concerned banks with a copy of Aadhaar Card to get it linked with their bank account so that they may not face any difficulty in getting payment of their produce.

ECI organises competition

Chandigarh: With a view to generate awareness among electors and increase their participation, the Election Commission of India has started  an online competition. Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Walgad said that  any resident of India can participate in this competition. A competition on the theme of “Duty to Vote: Bringing in Defence Personnel – the Service Voters” is being held which would continue up to August 31, 2015. Voters would have to log on website www.eci.nic.in  and get themselves registered by clicking on ‘Voters’ Fest’. After that the voter would get his log-In and Password which would enable him to enter this competition. Walgad has urged all residents of Haryana to participate in this online competition.

GEI to organise Free Eye Checkup Camp

Chandigarh: A free eye checkup camp will be organised by Grewal Eye Institute (GEI) at Mahajan Bhawan, Sector-37 here on Friday.  All can get their eyes checked by a team of highly experienced ophthalmologists from Grewal Eye Institute. CEO Dr Grewal said, “At Grewal Eye Institute, we are always looking for every opportunity, big and small, to do our humble best to give back to the society. Regular GEI Free Eye Checkup Camps are a part of our ongoing Social Responsibility efforts.”

Affixation of High Security Registration Plates

Chandigarh: The work of affixation of High Security Registration Plates is almost completed, as the transporters are no longer approaching the STA office now-a-days for getting the HSRP affixed on their old vehicles, said a UT Administration spokesperson   The UT Administration has requested that the transport operators/owners of commercial vehicles who have not got HSRP affixed on their old registered transport/commercial vehicles; should get HSRP affixed on their vehicles by September 30 failing which challans will be started w.e.f. October 1.
