Odisha Juniors bag 7 medals in Wushu meet
Bhubaneswar: Odisha bagged one gold, two silver, four bronze and total of seven medals in the 14th Sub Junior National Wushu Championship held at Choturam Indoor Stadium Rohatak, Harayana from March 26 to 29, being conducted by WUSHU Association of Harayana sanction by Wushu Association India. Total 750 participants from 29 States participated in the mega event. A 20 members Odisha wushu team consist of 10 girls and 11 boys (Under 14) lead by Pradyumna Behera (SAI coach), Pankaj Mahanto (coach), Purender Giri (manager),Satyander Pandey,Bharat Das and Sushil Kumar Samal were took part as officials in this National Championship. For this success first international wushu judge of India SS Harichandan, president of Wushu Association of Odisha (WAO) congratulate to all the participants for their achievements. GM laxman win Bhubaneswar Fide Rating Chess
Bhubaneswar : GM RR laxman of ICF emerged champion by scoring eight points by the end of ninth round of the 3rd Bhubaneswar All India Open FIDE Rating Chess Championship – 2015, which concluded at Hotel Empires here on Sunday. IM Himanshu Sharma of Railways and IM Kulkarni Vikramaditya scored 7.5 and seven points respectively and finished second and third. The champion laxman received Rs 75,000. Himanshu and Kulkarni got Rs 45,000 and 25,000 respectively. Altogether 165 players from 13 States were participated in the nine rounds tournament. Sarat Chandra Misra former Director General of Police distributed the prizes as the chief guest of the closing ceremony. Among others, Debashis Mekap, Vice President, Khordha District Chess Association,Gobinda Chandra Mohapatra, Executive Member, All Odisha Chess Association, Subhasis Patnaik, Secretary Khordha District Chess Association, Executive Member, All Odisha Chess Association .
Odisha Police enter Baramunda Cup final
Bhubaneswar: Odsha Police entered the final of the Baramunda Cup Football Tournament by defeating Utkal Sporting Club of Jatani by 1-0 goal at Biju Pattnaik Ground here on Monday, being organised by Baramunda Youth Association (BYA). After the barren first half, Rabi Mundari of the winning team scored the all important goal in the 61st minutes. In the second semifinal match on Tuesday, KIIT would meet United Club of Cuttack. Rama Chandra Mishra, Prafulla Kumar Behera, Ramesh Chandra Paikaray and Razak Khan were the official who conducted the match. Bhubaneswar Athletic Association secretary SR Parija, Ashok Mohanty, Aravinda Mitra and the BYA members were present.
RBI beat IDCO in IDCO Cup Cricket
Bhubaneswar: The all-round performance of Debananda Swain who scored 36 runs and scalped a wicket and powered the team to beat IDCO by 88 runs in the 2nd IDCO CUP Cricket Tournament at IDCO Ground here on Monday. Batting first, RBI scored 144 runs in 20 overs for the loss of two wickets. Soumitra Choudhury scored 48 runs and well supported by Debananda who contributed 36 runs. In reply, Binod Das and B Basn of IDCO scalped two wickets each and restricted IDCO for 56 runs in 17.1 overs.
Brief score: RBI 144/2 in 20 overs ( Soumitra Choudhury 48, Debananda Swain 36, Sourya Pattnaik 25) beat IDCO 56/10 in 17.1 overs (Binod Das 2/3, B Basn 2/9, Debananda Swain 1/13) by 88 runs.
