As many as 10 districts including Jabalpur and Ujjain have been listed for generating low revenue for the Transport department. The Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) of these districts have been blamed for their careless working pattern in generating the tax revenue from vehicles.
These RTO officers are far behind in comparison to other districts’ RTOs in recovery of taxes from vehicle owners. There is big disappointment in their performance to generate the State revenue. For this performance Transport Commissioner Shailendra Shrivastava has expressed dissatisfaction and further he has strictly instructed the RTOs concerned to achieve the target for the tax recovery.
In the current financial year 2015-16, Gwalior-Chambal region, Guna, Datia, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Sagar, Ujjain, Rewa, Khargone, Khandwa and Burahanpur districts were given the target and they have to increase the recovery by 10 to 15 per cent more. Time to time the Transport commissioner has reminded the RTOs of these districts to increase the revenue but they did not pay attention, so now these districts are under target of Transport Commissioner to generate more revenue. There are more than one dozen districts that are behind of 5 per cent less in generating the revenue and they have also received the caution from Transport Commissioner Shrivastava.
For last several years Gwalior was also behind in the recovery of tax but after the check post of Bilaua, the graph of Gwalior has gone up. Thousands of overloaded crusher stone trucks were passing from Bilaua check post through which crores rupees of tax have been recovered. So this time the Gwalior is considered as good performer. According to Transport Commissioner Shrivastava the RTO officers were cautioned of Bhopal, Jabalpur, Ujjain along with 10 districts which are running behind with their given targets. They were told to increase the revenue. After January 11 more strictness will be followed in recovery of tax.
