Guddu ki gun
Cast : Kunal Khemu, Payel Sarkar, Aparna Sharma, Sumeet Vyas
Rated : 5/10
While the story is preposterous — the lead Kunal Khemu’s organ turns to gold — may not sit very well with those who are self-righteous in their belief that an adult sex comedy need not always be attached to a storyline where the hero is running after every woman just to sell washing powder.
But what is alarming is that after having acted in movies like Go Goa Gone and Golmaal 3, Khemu actually agreed to do a C-grade film. As long as one is not looking for any kind of logic and sense here, Guddu Ki Gun directed by writer-directors Sheershak Anand and Shantanu Ray Chibber make sure that the film centres around Guddu, his golden gun and laddu (played by Sumeet Vyas). In fact, a lot of laugh moments come via one-liners by Vyas like — Kyun ki aapne itni ladkiyon ke saath hai khela ... upar waale ne golden kar diya hai aapka kela. A special mention here to the scene towards the climax — the Mughal-e-Azam. Though it finds familiarity with the Mahabharat scene in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, it still manages to make you laugh out loud.
But the film falters at many levels. First, despite the laugh moments, there are situations which makes you squirm in your seat and make you wonder what you are doing watching this film. Second, with not much of a storyline the movie is unable to hold your interest. Third, is the item number, which is forced.
Go see this one if you like adult sex comedy movies made in Bollywood.
