While the Government is struggling to cope with the aftermath of the recent earthquake and storms, thunderstorms and squalls continue in the eastern parts of India-especially Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. According to predictions of the India meteorological Department (IMD), this is expected to continue for another 24 hours.
According to officials, even the aftershocks of the earthquake are expected to continue for a month in the area. They further said that the thunderstorm is being caused by the influence of a moving trough in western disturbance. This is compounded by moisture from the Bay of Bengal. It will move to North-east by Wednesday, they added.
Bihar and West Bengal in particular faced another bout of thunderstorms and strong winds on Wednesday. Many districts of Bihar, including Chhapra, Muzaffarpur and Dharbanga, were hit by winds gusting at 70 km per hour, accompanied by heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning during the day.
