Not new to hitting headlines for wrong reasons, India's former test cricketer Vinod Kambli has landed in trouble yet again. This time around, he and his wife Andrea Hewitt face the charge of beating up their domestic help and caretaker of their kid.
In a complaint with the Bandra police station, 30-year-old domestic help Soni Nafesinh Sarsal has accused Kambli and his wife of beating her up, not paying her money and confining her in their flat for three days. Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner of Police (detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni said on Sunday, “Soni Sarsal has lodged a complaint with the Bandra Police Station against Vinod Kambli and his wife (Andrea) saying that they had not allowed her to return home and wrongfully confined her for three days when he asked them for the wages”.
Following Sarsal’s complaint, the Bandra Police have registered complaint under Sections 34 (common intention), 342 (wrongful confinement), 504 (insult to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, act or gesture to insult the modesty of women) of the IPC.
