Food for thought

Union Health Ministry has planned a meeting between megastar Amitabh Bachchan and frontline health workers after the former expressed desire to interact with the ground level staff who are the backbone of the effective health system. Brand ambassador of India in the fight against Polio and tuberculosis (TB), the Bollywood actor shared his wish with Additional Secretary (Health) CK Mishra at a Press conference to launch a media campaign on Hepatitis B recently in Mumbai. However, the interaction is expected to happen after the ongoing Parliament session is over.

Kharge vs Naidu

During the lok Sabha debate on ‘commitment to India’s Constitution’ in the lok Sabah as Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu sought to checkmate Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge saying “you are speaking more than your age... you spoke for 72 minutes last day”. Kharge retorted saying “mein to kuch bola hi nahin... aap ko khwab ayaa kya..”, evoking smile on the face of Parliamentary Minister. 

No mobile talk

The Defence Ministry has ordered all its Public Relations Officers (PROs) to minimise their interaction with journalists on the mobile telephone to avoid misrepresentation of facts. The order was passed last week after communication gap between a PRO and a journalist courtesy call drop. luckily, the PRO had recorded the conversation and it saved his job.

Patel’s Gujarat

The all-powerful Congressman Ahmed Patel, has been given the task to win back  Gujarat for the Congress beginning the local body elections. Patel had been managing the national affairs of the party for decades due to his proximity with Sonia Gandhi. He has accepted the onerous task to revive the Congress in the den of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his man Amit Shah. Patel is trying to unify the party in the State to put a united front and also managing by heart Hardik Patel as his own detractors are awaiting to look on his performance until the counting of votes on December 2.

Dinner on GST, after tea party

As soon as Sonia Gandhi landed home after the tea party conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi arrived for dinner. Before dinner, the mother and son held a 30-minute talk to evolve the party’s strategy on GST, 10 Janpath insiders say, Rahul is reported to have insisted that there should be  no scaling down of the Congress pre-conditions  and shot down the plans of those who tried for patch-ups.

Climate change & youth

It was an emotional moment for two of Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and Piyush Goyal, when a group of schoolchildren met them to convey their best wishes for India’s success in climate conference in Paris on Monday,   An elated Javadekar said, “We have already achieved a major success — to get our future generation so concerned about climate change — after all, youth is the ultimate key to our progressive future.” 

Sugam launched

As a part of the e-governance policy, the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has finally launched its much-awaited online portal ‘sugam’ wherein applicant can apply for licence under import and registration, track the status of submitted application, answer back to the raised queries as well as upload essential documents for registration certificate, import licence and other related activities. The facility was kicked off by Union Health Minister JP Nadda at a small function in the DCGI Headquarter at Kotla near ITO.
