A woman posted at Union Ministry of Finance as director of Commerce allegedly committed suicide in her flat in Noida Sector 37.
Identified as Gauri Karol (43), she was found dead in her flat at around 5:30 am on Sunday. Police said she had consumed poison.
Police have recovered a suicide note in which she has written to consume cyanide to end her life. The officer who was separated from her husband was apparently depressed after her elder son went back to live with his father.
Police said Gauri Karol, who hailed from Etah district in Uttar Pradesh, was posted as director of Commerce in the Finance Ministry.
She was survived by her divorced husband, Sameer Karol, Colonel posted in Indian Army in Jammu and her two children Rishavh(13) and Anchit(9).
As per the reports, the woman was living along with her mother and children in flat no-38 in Sector-37. On Sunday morning, the family found her lying unconscious following which a PCR call was made. She was taken to Kailash Hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Police said deceased Gauri had divorced her husband who works as a Colonel with the Indian Army and is posted in Jammu. She stayed with her younger son along with her parents in Noida while her elder son stays in Jammu.
“She was depressed from last few days after her elder son who came to meet her, went back to Jammu. She stated in her suicide note, recovered by the police, that she was not happy with life and wanted to die after the divorce,” said a senior police officer.
The incident came into light early morning when her parents found her unconscious with froth coming out of her mouth. They reported the incident to local police and police rushed her to a nearby hospital where doctor declared her brought dead. Police have handover the body to the family members of the victim after carrying out the postmortem.
