Pvt school fee, fake admission issues raised in House

Tuesday, 30 June 2015 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Various issues including enquiry into fake admissions in the Economic Weaker Section category, fixing fee of private schools, installation of CCTV cameras, release of old age pension, demarcation of land in areas close to neighbouring States and re-introduction of DTC buses were raised by legislators during the Budget Session in the Vidhan Sabha on Monday.

AAP MlA Manoj Kumar said that many private schools had allocated seats to students in the EWS category in clear violation of the rules.

He said there was a clear cut policy to provide 25 per cent seats to EWS children in private schools. But he alleged that rich people were paying anything between `3 and `10 lakh to get their wards admitted to the private schools.

Kumar alleged that about 250 students had been provided admissions to nine private schools in clear violation of the rules. He demanded that an enquiry be conducted to find out which students had been granted admission by unfair means. He demanded that strict action be taken against all those involved in the EWS racket.

leader of the Opposition, Vijender Gupta, questioned why the Government had not introduced the Bill on fixing fee structure  in the private schools. He demanded that like Tamil Nadu model, which has been appreciated by the Supreme Court as well, the Government should set up a committee under a high court judge to  approve fee structure of private schools in the city. “Once fee structure of any school is fixed by the committee, it should not be alleged to change the same for at least three years.

AAP MlA Vijender Garg pointed out that large scale adulteration was taking place in  food products. He claimed that Naptha, a dangerous chemical  was being used in fruits, which was a major health hazard. He  demanded that a proper system of sampling be introduced and strict action be taken against those indulging in adulteration.

Gokalpuri MlA Fateh Singh said large scale power thefts were taking place in border areas. All areas near neighbouring States were facing law and order problem and power and water shortage. He demanded that the AAP Government should immediately demarcate  its areas so that these problems are immediately solved.

Tuglakabad MlA Sahi Ram demanded that DTC buses be again run on old routes  in the Okhla Industrial area, where people from the entire NCR are working.
