Dengue fever can cause complications during delivery and major health problems to the pregnant women, if due attention and treatment is not given to them. According to health experts, more cases of pregnant women suffering from dengue are being diagnosed these days.
With high bleeding or loss of blood during delivery, dengue can cause outrageous complications in the pregnancy such as: Transmission of the disease from mother to the unborn, the situation of high blood pressure with fluid retention in pregnancy, abnormal quantities of protein in the urine, which may indicate damage to the kidneys and plasma leak.
Dr Archana Dhawan Bajaj, gynecologist, obstetrician and fertility expert, said, “In the last 2 weeks, we have diagnosed more than 10 pregnant women with Dengue and are closely monitoring them as higher risks of complications can arrive if not given proper treatment.”
This can out-turn as pre-eclampsia, pre-term labor or low birth weight baby. Operation deliveries are also more common in women suffered from dengue in pregnancy, added the doctor.
