In what has emerged as a serious threat to the residents of Supertech Capetown in Sector-74 of Noida, around 22 positive cases of dengue have been reported among barely 90 families living in the society, according to Capetown residents.
Disappointed by the indifferent attitude of the management which has “failed to heed the complaints of the residents and take concrete actions against the serious health threat prevalent in the locality”, around 150 residents protested against Supertech management on Sunday morning.
Raising concerns over cleanliness inside and nearby the campus leading to increased dengue cases, residents of the society blocked the gate for five hours preventing Supertech management and workers from entering or leaving the premises.
Residents said water logging in the parking area and outside the campus, poor drainage and sewerage system have affected the campus with dengue larva and poor maintenance by Supertech management is the reason behind that. They further added that the poor sanitation conditions have forced them to keep themselves and their children inside the flats and not letting them out to play in the playground.
“We have been making complaints to Supertech management but they do not take any action. Water logging in parking areas is serious issue for germination of dengue larva. Also, dirty water in the swimming pool and drainage overflow outside the campus is spreading dengue but the management did not take it seriously to maintain it. Even, they do not conduct mosquito fogging operation inside the campus,” said Shanskak, a flat owner.
Residents complain that while the builder has charged a hefty sum for the maintenance of the premises for the whole year in advance, but the state of the facilities as well as the open areas is miserable.
Raising some other issues, another resident Tanmay said, “There is no proper security of our house as instances of house robbery incidents have increased. They have been delaying to provide possession even after charging 100 percent of the flat cost.”
Meanwhile, a panel of Supertech officials met with the protesting residents and assured them to provide total maintenance and fogging to kill dengue larva. Around 3000 flats have been constructed in Supertech Capetown project where around 100 families have started living.
