In a major relief to retired Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC)’s workers, Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai has directed DTC to release the due pension to them for the month of May and June.
An official statement issued by the Government said over Rs29 crore has been released by the Government for the pension for retired DTC employees.
"Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai has directed DTC to release the due pension to the pensioners of the Delhi Transport Corporation. Accordingly, DTC has released the due of its pensioners for the month of May and June," said the statement.
Transport Minister said that a sum of Rs14,53,15,668 has been released through ECS in the account of 12,010 pensioners for the month of May. He further added that a sum of Rs15,11,13,384 towards the pension for the month of June for 12,137 pensioners has also been released through ECS and the same will be credited in the accounts of pensioners in due course of time.
Over 12,000 DTC pensioners had not been paid their pension since May. A delegation of the DTC Pensioners’ Forum had recently met Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken and submitted a memorandum, requesting him to take up the issue of clearing their pension arrears and other dues that the DTC owes them.
