The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has planned to launch a drive against using residential premises for commercial purposes in this fast growing city.
“We have to launch the drive before Diwali by all means. The GDA is getting regular complaints regarding using residential premises for business purposes which have defaced the city. Illegal land use has created a traffic problem in the residential colonies. The residents are using their houses in narrow lanes for commercial activities and their customers park their vehicles on the roads which create traffic jam and create problems for the administration,” said GDA officer on special duty (OSD) DP Singh.
“Initially we scrutinised the big business houses carrying their business from the residential premises against the land use. These include hospitals, banks, hotels, banquette halls among others. In the next phase, the rule will be enforced to screen all the residential areas using premises for petty commercial activities like grocery shops, parlours and boutiques,” added the GDA OSD.
