Calling the maiden Aam Aadmi Party Government’s Budget a deficit Budget, Opposition leader Vijender Gupta said that this Budget will lead to inflation and more burden on the aam aadmi.
Terming the proposals made by Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in his Budget speech as jugglery of figures, and highly unrealistic, misinterpreting and inflationary in nature, Gupta stressed that the Budget proposals show the Budget in surplus of Rs 371 crore but in reality there is a fiscal deficit of Rs 417.82 crore.
“The Revenue receipts are to the tune of Rs 39,984.13 crore whereas the total expenditure is Rs 41,129 crore. Thus there is a deficit of Rs 1,144.87 crore. The receipts include inflated figures. Many of the receipts have been included for the sake of figure work only knowing that these will never be collected. The deficit Budget is being called the Surplus Budget. The opening balance falsely shows surplus amount whereas in reality it is negative,” said Gupta.
Attacking the Government, Gupta said that while it claims to be a Government of aam aadmi, it has increased the expenditure on MlAs, which is now much higher than that in Sheila Dixit regime.
“There is an increase in expenditure in offices of the Ministers. An additional provision of Rs 50 lakh has been made compared to last year. Rs 7 crore has been kept aside for Speaker office. Thus, an all time high amount of Rs 15 crore is being spent on the offices of Minister and Speaker. The Government has not introduced any major austerity measures either,” he alleged.
Criticising the Government on its proposal to raise capping on VAT, Gupta said that the step is aimed at opening door for increase in VAT through the back door.
He also alleged that the increase in taxes proposed in the Budget will lead to inflation.
