The Delhi Government is planning to launch Capital’s first half way home to streamline mentally challenged people in the employment sector. With the start of the pilot project, the Government aims to commission the home with 40-bed capacity at Rohini sector-3 within four months.

“These people will be provided with employment opportunity in field of garments, crafts, hospitalization and even others to according to their capability,” the official said.
For the quick response for commissioning the half way home, the Government is likely to conduct a meeting on September 21 with NGO officials. After the training session, the mentally retarded people will move back to their house so that they can spend time with their family as well.
Experts said it is the human nature of people to sideline mentally retarded and differently -abled people thinking that these people cannot do anything. The Government is just trying to eliminate this thinking of society, they said.
