After BJP’s CM candidate Kiran Bedi gave out necklaces to female voters during a rally on Wednesday and Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) raised objection to her move and also called it bribery. While the party has not yet filed an official complaint regarding the same, senior leader Sanjay Singh said that they will most likely take up the matter with the EC.
Bedi was allegedly seen handing out “pearl” necklaces during a roadshow at Patparganj in East Delhi. With Kejriwal repeatedly asking people at rallies to accept bribes from other parties and in turn vote for AAP again came out and spoke up against this move of Bedi.“Opponents are trying to ‘buy’ our volunteers. I have told volunteers not to refuse anyone who approaches. Paise lekar sting kar lo (Take the money and do a sting on them). Spread this message,” he tweeted.
Senior leaders of the party too condemned this move, “They are directly luring voters by giving necklaces. This is very dangerous. It is clearly a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.”The party has said that they will consult each other and then decide whether they will file an official complaint against Bedi or not. However, a few party workers said that by doing what Bedi is doing, she is digging her own grave.
