Kejriwal directs removal of encroachment around war cemetery
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed removal of an encroachment around a war cemetery in Model Town area after it was highlighted by British High Commissioner to India Sir James David Bevan. The British High Commissioner met the Chief Minister on Wednesday and highlighted the issue of encroachment and protection of the war cemetery in Model Town area. Kejriwal immediately directed the Divisional Commissioner to inspect the site and send a report to his office about the required measures for protection. The two also discussed the situation of power and water in the city. Kejriwal said that sewer system and solid waste management were the areas of concern for the Delhi Government. He also inquired about successful water management system being used in london for water recycling. The High Commissioner also congratulated Kejriwal for the victory in Assembly elections and asked the mantra for party’s massive win. In reply, Kejriwal said, “It was a mix of several factors that led to the huge mandate. People were excited about our 49-day governance, they wanted us back as they saw corruption was stopped. People also saw a change in power and water scenario.”
Uttam Nagar residents, farmers praise kejri for providing water
A delegation of residents and farmers of the Uttam Nagar area met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat on Wednesday. The delegation was led by local MlA Naresh Balyan. The delegation thanked the Chief Minister for supplying water to their area which has been a long pending demand. They also said that they were very happy with the measures taken by the Government on water and power. Speaking to the Chief Minister, some residents, who were involved in farming, said that the compensation announced by the Delhi Government is a landmark decision for Delhi farmers who never got anything from any Government in the past. The Chief Minister told them that the Government would assure that every farmer gets his due as compensation and Government would do whatever required for it.
Traders’ delegation submits memorendum against eviction to CM
A delegation of traders of Delhi called on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat on Wednesday. The delegation comprised members of New Delhi Traders Association and Delhi Rajya Vyapar Sangathan. The delegation submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on eviction of old commercial tenants in Delhi and property tax being charged as a part of rent. The memorandum claims that old commercial tenants, who have paid ‘Pugree’, are facing eviction forcing them to close down their establishments and this in turn renders them jobless. The delegation also demanded a clarification in one of the sections of the NDMC Act, 1994 that a landlord can recover property tax from his tenant as if such sum were rent payable to him. It said that this ambiguity was being used by the landlords to claim property tax as a part of rent. This they said was preventing occupants from paying taxes as they fear that payment of property tax by them may be construed as a part of rent.

n Raising concern about increasing incidents of crimes against women in the Capital, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ajay Maken, along with his party leaders, on Wednesday met lt Governor Najeeb Jung and discussed the issue. They alleged that the AAP Government failed to make the city safer for women. Claiming that the incidents of crime against women is not under check and is putting the lives of women at risk, Maken condemned the murder of an 11-year-old girl possibly after sexual abuse, at Bawana on April 25.
