The assailant who murdered 13-year-old Bhaskar in his classroom on Friday morning has been identified as a school dropout who studied in the same school, according to classmates of the deceased student.
“The murderer has been identified as Satish (18), a former student of the same school,” said the inspector probing the murder. He said the name of the “killer” student is being kept under wraps considering his age and other legal formalities.
According to the police version, the classmates of Bhaskar identified the murderer as a school dropout who was a student of Pandalkudi Government High School, 540 km from Chennai.
“The students said that Satish was a homosexual who had kidnapped many students from the school in the past. He had even kidnapped Bhaskar once and tried to kill him by forcing him to consume soft drink laced with poison,” said the investigating officer.
Though Gopal, Bhaskar’s father had filed a police complaint against Satish for attempt to murder his son, the police changed the complaint to that of attempted suicide.
“It seems Satish suspected Bhaskar of telling about his nefarious activities to other people. This could be the motive for the murder,” said a senior school department official. V Jeyakumar, chief education officer, Virudhunagar, said Satish has been diagnosed as a psychological disorder in the past.
