After denied permission for Kiss of love — an event to protest against moral policing in Bengaluru on Sunday — the event organisers on Saturday deferred the event.
According to Vijayan Kallin, media coordinator for the event in Bengaluru, that the “movement” had gathered ample support. He said, “We tried our best to convince the police that it will be peaceful. It is not a kissing competition but if people want to kiss, we cannot stop them.” According to him, Sunday’s event was likely to include a protest march and sloganeering.
Many right wing organisations which include Sri Ram Sene of Pramod Muthalik and ruling Congress leaders along with some prominent citizens of Bengaluru have opposed such an event by saying that is expression of vulgar.
The organisers held a round of talks with the police and later decided to call-off Sunday’s event.
